Rest in Peace Larry Klinehoffer 11/26/40-12/3/09

larry Cropped.jpgPADI Course Director Larry Klinehoffer was a retired US Navy officer (LCDR/USN –ret) and had been scuba diving for nearly 40 years with over 10,000 dives of experience. As a PADI member for almost 20 years and as a PADI Instructor and Course Director he has issued over 4000 PADI certifications including over 1800 instructor level certifications. He was the first PADI/DSAT Instructor Trainer for technical diving in the pacific region. He is an Instructor Trainer for Divers Alert Network (DAN) with over 800 DAN certifications, and an instructor for the Handicapped Scuba Association (HSA) plus a certified instructor for the Professional Scuba Inspectors (PSI Inc) training qualified visual cylinder inspectors. Additionally he is a licensed USCG Boat Captain with a 50-Ton license. Larry’s broad experience has taken him across one side of the globe conducting training programs in Guam, Republic of Palau, Chuuk, Saipan, Northern Marianas Islands and the other side of the globe to Curacao Netherlands Antilles. He has trained many PADI instructors of different nationalities including American, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Dutch, German, French, Antillean and Palauan. He conducted the very first English speaking IDC in Palau and has certified almost all of the Palauan PADI Instructors. As a naval officer, Larry was a “Mustang” having been enlisted for the first 12 years of his career. Larry’s last assignment on active duty was as the initial aircraft maintenance officer of the Navy Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Five (now HSC-25 located at Andersen Air Force Base). For his leadership and management during that three and one half year period he was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal. Larry died December 3rd, 2009 at the age of 69.
